Why can't meeba find my location?

Things to check:
1. Make sure your GPS is turned on (hard to get your location without it).
2. Make sure your WiFi and or mobile data connection is available.

Your GPS and network are on but still can't get your location?
You might have to give permission for meeba to use it.
On your mobile phone do the following actions:
Go to - Settings -> General -> Apps -> meeba -> Permissions
Now enable Location, restart meeba and you're done :)
Still having problems - contact our support at contact@meeba-app.com

When does my location update?

meeba doesn't track your location all the time.
Your location is only updated when you open the meeba app and it stays there until the next time you open it.
So, make sure to open meeba whenever you get to a new place so the travelers around you can know that you're in the area.
If meeba can't find your location don't worry, you can update your location manually, follow the steps here: Update location manually

How do I update my location manually?

To update your location manually follow these steps:
  1. Click on the map on the position you wish to locate yourself in and see the green marker.
  2. Click on the green marker and see the info window opening.
  3. See the address in the info window (this is the address you will locate yourself in, only you can see it). Notice that an adress will show only if we can find one (You might not see an address if you're putting yourself somewhere in the wilderness).
  4. Click on the "Save this as my location" button.
  5. That's it! Your location has been updated.

What are posts?

Posts are very useful. They are your best way to communicate with other travelers except directly messaging them.
whether you're looking for a travel partner, exchange equipment, recommendations, help or just to make new friends, posts should be your tool of choice.
Did you know you can create a post anywhere in the world no matter where you are at that moment? This way you can get information even before you got to your destination! Cool right?!

How do I upload a post to meeba?

Posts can be uploaded in two ways:
1. From the Map page:
  1. Click on the map in the place you want to create your post (make sure you are not clicking on something that's already on there).
  2. See the green market where you clicked on the map? Click on it. This should open a window above the marker.
  3. In the window you should see a button that says "write post", click on it and you will be directed to the edit post page.
  4. Choose a post type (this is very important since it also affects the way your post will be seen to others on the map).
  5. Fill in the post title and content - put as much information as you can. All of this information will help the people around you and those that will visit after you.
  6. Choose an address - this affects where your post will appear. Default will be your current location. Or, if you came from the map, it will be the position of the green marker. You can always change that.
  7. Upload a picture if you want - adding a picture helps people engage with your post.
  8. Click the save button on the bottom of the page or the orange V on the top right corner of the page to save your post and share it with the travelers.
2. From the Board page:
  1. In the Local board page you will click on the orange + button on the bottom right corner of the page, you will be directed to the edit post page
  2. Follow steps 4 - 8 from the previous example and you're done!

Who can see my address?

Short answer - no one!
We at meeba do everything we can in order to keep your personal information safe.
Your address isn't shown to anyone.
No one can see your location except for your followers (read about followers here: What are followers?), and it's up to you whether to accept them or not.

What are followers?

The followers feature is your way to stay in touch with your travel friends.
If you made a new friend and you want to easily stay in touch with them so you could find them again you should follow them.
Followers can see each other on the map, that way, when you get to a new place you can see immediately where your friends are.
Followers are mutual meaning if you're following someone, they are following you back, so you both can see eachother.
You can also see a list of your followers in the followers tab on the travelers page.
Another good use for this feature is to let your family know where you are, so get them to download meeba and follow you.
Pretty cool huh? :)
* Important note - make sure you're only followers with people you know in person and trust (since they can see your exact location)
